Shinrin - Yoku

Shinrin-Yoku is a Japanese concept that loosely translates as “forest bathing” . There is strong scientific evidence that spending relaxed time in nature improves both physical and mental health. But you don’t need to be a scientist to know how good you feel after a stroll through the woods. The goal of this series is to explore this concept together and create a beautiful coffee table book, an exhibition and some stunning fine art prints for your wall.

Practical.

The shoot usually takes about two hours but we’ll take as long as we need to enjoy the experience and create beautiful art. These shoots require daylight, so keep that in mind while booking your shoot. I know a couple of nice secret forest spots around Leuven where we won’t be disturbed. I’m also open to explore your favourite place in nature. The weather is part of nature and the joy of being outdoors, so we’ll take it as it comes. We’ve had some of the best results and experiences in the worst possible weather.

You’ll notice in the gallery that the Shinrin-Yoku images all contain some degree of nudity. As always, it’s up to you how far you want to go. It’s ok if you want to stay within your comfort zone and it’s fine as well if you want to break out of it. In the end it’s about intimacy and connection. i’ll guide you with respect for your boundaries. Together we’ll produce a varied set of images that consists of both recognisable and more mysterious, anonymous images.

The final end result of the Shinrin-Yoku project will be a fine art coffee table book and an exposition. This is NOT me putting pictures of you in a book. This is a full blown collaboration in which your input is key. Of course you’ll have the final say in which images will be used.
